Cellist - George Yang
George is very much a quiet achiever, and one with a long list of prestigious accomplishments in his career. Invited to give performances in China and Hong Kong, George has also toured Columbia with the Sydney Northern Chamber Orchestra in 2013 and was a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra. George has also worked with the Sydney based Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra.
After masterclasses with Umberto Clerici in 2017 George made his solo debut performing with the Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra playing the Dvorak Cello Concerto and also performed the work with the Ryde Hunters Hill Symphony Orchestra conducted by Dr Carlos Alvarado.
George gained his Bachelor of Music (Performance) in 2014 at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of the renowned Georg Peferson. He was selected as Principle Cellist with the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra for three consecutive years, performing at the Mount Heritage Hotel annual quartet concert series at the time.
Commencing his Masters Degree in Music (Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2015 with the support of the Patricia Lucas Music Achievement Scholarship, George completed the program in 2016.
Along with his performance work George is very active in teaching programs as a staff member at the Sydney Conservatorium’s Open Academy and the Karlyang Music Education Centre. He also holds a number of positions as a tutor at prominent schools.
George has performed at the Sydney Opera House, Sydney International Convention Centre, The City Recital Hall in Angel Place, Llwellyn Hall at the Australian National University School of Music, Elder Hall in Adelaide, Verbruggen Hall at the Sydney Conservatorium and the National University of Columbia.
