Composed by Alan Griffiths. Performed by Evgeny Ukhanov. Composed for Ukhanov in August 2015, Motif & Variations, is a work in progress. It explores a short 8-note motif through many variations, interspersed with other original material. Griffiths first came up with this motif in 1995 while scoring a New Zealand short film The Weeping Doe, produced by Creative New Zealand. Now he plans to expand on this recorded piece in to a full piano concerto. To bring this project in to fruition he is inviting expressions of interest from individuals and/or organisations that may be interested in commissioning Griffiths to compose this work.
